Dr. Oz at it again, Dr. Fauci to the rescue, and protests in the U.S.

Doctor Mehmet Oz, famously known as Dr. Oz expresses an odd analysis to work towards opening up the economy, giving his opinion that people are willing to take a risk that would increase the mortality of the virus 2 - 3%.

"We need our mojo back. Let's start with things that are really critical to the nation, where we think we might be able top open without getting into a lot of trouble. I tell you schools are a very appetizing opportunity. I just saw a nice piece in The Lancet [medical journal] arguing that the opening of schools may only cost us 2-3% in terms of total mortality. And you know, any life is a life lost, but to get every child back into a school where they're safely being educated and being fed and making the most out of their lives with a theoretical risk on the backside, it might be a trade-off some folks would consider."

Now, there are many things which I dislike about the ways Dr. Oz has using his title, but being able to consider 2 - 3 % of the U.S. population of 320 million inhabitants, that would be 6.4 million to 9.6 million inhabitants. I thought doctors take an oath to do no harm.

He clarifies that this calculation is not kids, rather the entire population. Now, we hope that he doesn't mean of the entire country, or he meant some other calculation, because someone who is giving medical recommendations to many people at home and even the president himself, should not be tolerating any unnecessary loss of life.

It seems that Fox news is pushing forwards everywhere to try to get Doctors to give the support to go ahead and open the economy, stop measures, and that we are overreacting. Fortunately, Dr. Fauci did have a good moment in an interview with Ingraham in Fox and Friends where he was quick to point out the comparisons and perspectives by the host were misleading and that this virus wasn't going away any time soon.

It seems like that President Trump's favorite news channel seems to be sending mixed messages all over the country. This is probably why there are protests gathering all over the U.S. Protests against the extension of the stay-at-home orders and social distancing measures have surged in Michigan, Minnesota, Kentucky Utah, North Carolina, Ohio. As this protests rise, the biggest concern is that all these protesters are engaging in dangerous activity exposing themselves to Covid-19.

The hardest predicament is that as the quarantine is extended to protect health, the economy and livelihood of people suffer, causing more drive to protest, increasing dangerous behavior during this pandemic. And the way that the media channels like Fox is trying to drive the conversation towards prematurely relaxing the social distancing measures, this will ultimately cause a stronger uprising as the economic situation deteriorates.

The response of the governments all around the world will have to prepare to help all those in need as the collapse of the economy will inevitably cause desperation which can result in the protests we see today, becoming a potential new outbreak, and diminishing resources to control possible riots.
